La Terza Classe

La Terza Classe

La Terza Classe was born in Naples in October 2012; the street were the place where the project formed and had its first achievements, and where the band started to produce music and shows playing traditional and modern American folk songs: from Bluegrass to Dixieland, also called Early Jazz, up to Jug Band songs, combining each one of the styles with typical Neapolitan “theatricality”.

In 2013 the band made a first LP, “Ready to Sail”, which sold more than 2000 copies thanks to the intense and constant live performances n several countries. In May 2016 the second studio work came out, “Folkshake”, which included 8 new tracks and one original song; this work  was realized together with “Ad Est dell’Equatore” publishing house, and is distributed on Amazon, Spotify and iTunes.

Over the years La Terza Classe has had the chance to continue studying the roots of the music they play and for this reason the band has performed in many European countries (Germany, France, Belgium, Netherlands) and especially in the United States , which they toured in 2014, 2015, 2016 and 2017;  the band has been featured on many American radio shows (one of them being the famous “Blue Plate Special” , live on WDVX radio in Knoxville) and had the honor of playing for four years in a row at “Music City Roots” in Nashville,TN, as well as in the well known Live Oak Music Festival, in Austin,TX and on the stage of the famous “Bluegrass Underground”.

In 2015 the band participated at the “Bluegrass Contest” in the town of Anderson, S.C., and won second place and had the opportunity to perform on the Main Stage of the “Boograss Bash Festival”, together with internationally recognized artists like Doyle Lawson & Quicksilver, Rhonda Vincent and Flatt Lonesome. Along with its music activity, La Terza Classe has had the chance to feature in several television programs produced by Sky Arte: “On the Road with Joe Bastianich” and “Fotografi”; it has also recently been featured on the 2016 edition of “Italy’s got Talent”.

Some songs of the band have been used on several television programs: the original tune “Paulina” and a cover of the famous bluegrass standard “Rollin’ in my sweet baby’s arms” have been used by Sky Sport as a soundtrack for some commercials. La Terza Classe has also performed for the openings of the movie “A broken Circle Breakdown”, distributed by a well-known distribution company in many theatres in the south of Italy, and has produced a documentary “Flat Tyre – An American Music Dream”, whichshows the story of the first trip to the USA that led the band to discover the roots of American folk music. The documentary, directed by Ugo di Fenza and edited by Paolo Ielpo, won the 2016 edition of the Napoli Film Festival and the jury’s special mention at the Salento International Film Festival 2017.

Joe Louis Walker

The living legend returns to the Mercersburg Mansion House stage on Friday Dec. 8

Special guests NAS Trio

JLW -- NPR Music has called Walker “a legendary boundary-pushing icon of modern blues,” and he is already being referred to within the blues world as a living legend. However, at this stage of his life, Walker profoundly shares, “I’d really like to inspire younger musicians to carry on the legacy of blues/roots music. But play, and do it your way. Don’t be afraid to mix it up. There’s no right, or wrong way. Just the way you wanna express yourself.  And above all, ENJOY YOURSELF.”

NAS Trio -- Nick Andrew Staver is trenching new roads to be paved with his sound. Ripping the blues from it’s traditional seams and restitching them with the threads of a heart wrenching voice and lyrics, ready to drop the kid gloves anytime and arrive to work with a sledgehammer in tow.

Not only will the stage bear the weight of his songs but also the mass of steel hanging around his neck like a badge of dignity.
The steel guitar, the bronze strings and the sweat from his brow can be equally experienced in every note as his prayer-like breath gravels from lungs to listener.

Behind the steam of his 5th independent release, YOPE (2017), lovingly titled after a childhood nickname, Nick Andrew Staver is touring long and hard to help fill in the gaps for those in need of a blues fix.

And filling in some of his own along the way.

THE BAND

In the spring of 2011 in  Nelson County, Virginia  Koda Kerl and Marie Borgman poured some Evan Williams in a hot cup of tea and decided to start a band. The idea was to organically grow a sound based around lively shows that would not be restricted by genre. They joined forces with Irishmen Ryan Lavin and started ferociously playing as much as they could. After a year of building a reputation playing rowdy bar sets they signed with County Wide Records and cut their first EP  "The Barn Sessions." The band quickly gained recognition regionally and after releasing their debut full-length record "Wandering Boots," They began touring. A few years of cross-country tours and the band started to hit their stride... They were invited to play festivals such as FloydFest, The Festy, and Arizona's Tilted Earth Festival and were able to share the stage with national acts Old Crow Medicine Show, Robert Earl Keen, Railroad Earth, Rusted Root, and the Infamous Stringdusters among others. Their eclectic sound blends Americana and Southern Rock with Irish, Gypsy, and Old-Time all wrapped up in a raging live performance.

Selling records and tickets is important to AEG, but they are committed to changing the world with their songs and their actions along the way. Ezra and his band are activists and community leaders as much as they are musicians and songwriters. Ezra has spent time living out of a van, farming in Canada, volunteering for the relief effort in Kosovo, and practicing environmental geography in South Africa. Whether as a kitchen hand or carpenter, teacher, athlete, or traveler, Ezra crams it all into the music, always challenging our perspective and often teetering somewhere between the ballsy rocker and sensitive poet. Through their non profit organization, RallySound, AEG helps people organize live music events that inspire communities and encourage grassroots activism
